Toyota Yaris Hybrid - a preview of the next-gen Yaris
Toyota are determined to shove hybrid gubbins in anything they build that moves, so we now get a hybrid version of the next generation Yaris revealed at Geneva. Just as Toyota aren’t saying if the new Prius+ will get the regular 1.8 litre hybrid drivetrain (we think it will), they’re also not saying if the Toyota Yaris Hybrid will get it. We’re assuming not, because it would then out-perform both the Prius and the Auris Hybrid, which would never do.
Hyundai are set to launch an additional model of the Velsoter Turbo to sit below the Turbo SE for around £2 less. With the regular Hyundai Veloster starting at £18k and the Velsoter Turbo at £22k, Hyundai has worked out there’s a middle ground price point – can you guess what it is? So to fill that gap (yes, it’s a £20k entry point) Hyundai are to launch the bog-standard Veloster Turbo (without the SE badge) which will lose some of the equipment but, as far as we can see, keep the butch cosmetic bits on the exterior.
Fiat has turned to Catrinel Menghia once again to get red-blooded males to give the convertible Abarth 500 – the Fiat 500C Abarth – a bit of attention. Fiat are Italian, and Italians love women. And Fiat, in particular, loves Catrinel Menghia (even if she is Romanian), so they’ve turned to the delightful assets of Ms Menghia once again to promote their cars.
